CMS stands for Content Management System. In plain English — the engine of a website. It is the kind of software that lets you run a site without touching its code.
Unlike ordinary programs, which install and run on your own computer, tablet or phone, a CMS is installed on the site itself — more precisely, on the hosting. That is why, to use one, you need three things: the address of the login page, a username and a password.
That same property is what makes a CMS convenient: to manage a site that has one, all you need is an internet connection and a browser. Nothing to install, nothing to keep updated on your side, and it works the same from any device.
